Threads of Movement: Weaving Dance into Indigo Craft
Year: 2024
Medium:
Pigment Making, Indigo Dyeing, digital photography
Inspired by my trip to Bali, I sought to immerse myself in the artistry of local craftsmen. Drawing inspiration from Tian Taru, renowned for creating their own pigments and cultivating an indigo plantation, I participated in a workshop that encompassed the entire process—from harvesting the leaves to producing the pigment. This experience also allowed me to experiment with various materials for transferring color and pattern. With my enduring passion for dance, I aimed to infuse the concept of movement into my designs, capturing the fluidity and grace that characterize both the art of dyeing and the art of dance. This journey deepened my appreciation for traditional craftsmanship while enabling me to blend my creative interests in an innovative manner.
